The long drive up to northern California was well worth the incredible experience I had at Ultra Adventure swimmer, Jamie Patrick's Swim Camp in Hidden Valley, California! I have never been around so many passionate open water swimmers all at once!

The cabin was adorable accommodating one big happy swim family! People were in an out throughout the day, hanging out on the deck, swimming laps, going on jogs, taking naps, jumping on the trampoline, or creating their own fun!

The night swim we did the first night was a blast. My carpool ride from Southern California arrived in the evening and I didn't make it down to the lake before the sun set. It was kind of a rush having never seen the lake in daylight before and jumping in at night. I couldn't have asked to been surrounded by a more spunky group of swimmers to enjoy the moon light swim with. Watching the stars from the middle of the lake with such fresh, clear air was amazing!

The next morning Jamie rented a patio boat and we all carpooled to Clear Lake, the largest freshwater lake in California! We swam along the boat along the shoreline headed north for about 1 hour and a half against the current then turned around and headed back to the starting point where we regrouped and set back to the cabin.

I saw a lot of familiar faces and met many new ones as well. I truly enjoyed my time spent there and only wished I could have stayed longer. I plan on making it to Jamie's next camp in August 2013 and look forward to crewing for his Tahoe 360 swim this August/September! Go Jamie Go! Cheers to 2012 Jamie Patrick Swim Campers!! Thank you for such a wonderful event Jamie! You are awesome!!!  XOXO

Open water swimmers and triathletes come in all different sizes, shapes and ages.

Their abilities range from novices to pros.

And their outlook, fears and perspectives, especially before a race, are usually quite evident, clearly written all over their faces.

Where do you fall in the range of emotions before an open water swim?
